FRUITSTOCK: THE AFTERMATH...

Things I should have taken to Fruitstock but forgot:
Sunglasses, sunscreen, a blanket to sit on, non alcoholic liquid refreshment, a straw hat, a baby/toddler and cumbersome buggaboo stroller.

We drank and drank, and danced and danced with the sun beating down on our necks.
I was able to piece together the events of the day because I somehow filled my camera's entire memory with photo's of random humans. Apparently I was stalking a girl in a yellow dress and various blokes wearing sunglasses. I do not remember any of this. But the evidence is all there on flickr.

It's a pity I missed this. It's true I was in NY, but that's not a serious excuse. I was asleep at the wheel. I let the ball drop. I was off my game. That's all there is to it. I am devastated to have missed the Pimm's bus....

Now what follows might seem like the tangential digression of a slightly lunatic type, but bear in mind that it all relates to the theme of fruit...

All I can say to excuse myself for having missed Fruitstock is that I was rediscovering something that those ever-wise Italians have known about for a long time: lemon sorbet combines brilliantly with vodka, especially citrus vodka. You can take this idea in several directions. Serve yourself lemon sorbet in a bowl and pour some vodka over it (Friday evening). Soften up a bit of lemon sorbet, mix it with the vodka and serve it with a straw in a flute (Saturday evening). Buy lemon ice at a corner stand (which abound in NY in this season) and pour vodka over it from a hip flask while people look on with horror and pity (Sunday, noonish).

Cheers,

BB

Hehe! Your photos look just like mine. Except I did have the todder and couldn't find the girl in the yellow dress. There are some on my blog - though I need to get myself a Flickr account.
