BLAH BLAH SOMETHING ABOUT THE NATURE OF MODERN CELEBRITY AND THE ROLE OF THE INTERNET...

In Paris I see Clemence Poesy in the 3rd and think, wow there's Clemence Poesy as I walk around the corner straight into a life size poster of her on the cover of Jalouse magazine. Then I realize I have never seen a film she's been in (I'm allergic to Harry Potter and I've no idea what she's done since except look great on Style.com wearing Balenciaga at parties).

I see the most stunning woman walking down rue de Poitou and recognise her as well. I am almost convinced I know her but when I look at her shoes: Prada sandals, it clicks that I don't know her at all. It's Giovanna Battaglia - favourite Sartorialist subject.

I guess my three month self imposed media ban didn't have any effect then.

(Eventually I buy Jalouse with Clemence on the cover and the man at the magazine kiosk who is a sweetheart straight out of Parisian magazine vendor central casting: black beret, thick round black glasses; makes me repeat Jaloooouuuse, Jalooooouuuussse, until I pronounce it correctly.)

Welcome to Paris & thank you for your blog, it's pure addiction. I've taken the liberty of linking one of your articles, hope it's allright.

Ah, is that who she is? I suppose I have seen her in the HP movie (in the plane, in my defense)...

I've been musing (i.e., incoherently mumbling to myself) that there is something about this concept, celebrity, that needs more thought, that here in London versus NY (and evidently different yet in Paris) it operates differently. Paris does seem to be a smaller city so one will spot more people that one has first seen on the screen...

Cheers,

BB

how do you recognize these people? if I passed clemence poesy on the street in the 3rd I would just think she was some cute chick and have no idea it was fleur de la whoever from harry potter.

she does have great style tho. or at least her stylist does.

funnily enough I've never made it through an entire harry potter film so never saw her in it - I only know her from those party pictures in the back of french vogue etc. which makes it even weirder...I only recognise random people, not properly A list famous ones.

She's very chic, and in my opinion, a much more worthy cover subject than Cory Kennedy-UGH!
