LET US EAT CAKE...

...Because today we celebrate three years of Lola Is Beauty!

**fireworks, party streamers, smattering of polite applause**

To mark the occasion we're going to have a little competition. See that tag line up there? You may not have even noticed it. It says, "If I could train her to make me a cup of tea every morning I'd swear off humans forever." Now, that is one long tag line I'm sure you'll agree - and frankly, whenever I happen to glance at it I'm reminded of the fact that Lola (who is a cat in case you hadn't realised) is never going to tap me gently on the shoulder at 8am and pass me a steaming cup of PG Tips with just the right amount of soya milk. Also, I seem to be generally less wary of humans than I was three years ago.

So the tag line is moribund, useless, time for a change, eh? I don't even know if I need a tag line but if anyone comes up with a catchy one that I like I will use it. And I might even throw in a signed photo of Lola.

Lola has specifically requested that all you lurkers out there, including friends and family who think I don't know they read this blog regularly and never comment (I can seeee yoooouuuu) join in.

It is her wish.

If you don't want to think up a tag line, then tell us what your favourite cake is (as if we need encouragement). I hope I don't get confused and end up with Battenberg Slice for a tag line.

No pressure! Come on, we don't bite (well I don't).

  1. Three years? And I only discovered you a couple of months ago. All the fun I must have missed!
Happy birthday little Lola ... Well, I can't think of a new tag line for your banner but I can tell you that my favourite cake is without a doubt green tea tiramisu from Saki in Smithfields. It is the loveliest and yummiest thing in the world, the texture, the bitter sweet taste, the colour. Yes, it even beats all the great French patisserie created by my uncle in Blois. I win!!!

  2. Congratulations on 3 years!

    I really enjoy your blog.

I can't think of a tag line at the moment- I'm not very good at fitting things in small spaces!

My favourite cake is the Konditor and Cook lemon one or any coffee cake.

Congratulations! Well done, can't see myself keeping up my blog for 3 years! I'll have to get back to you about the tag line, nothing coming to me right now. My favourite cake is the Christmas cake my Dad makes every year, its extra yummy because we only get it once a year.

Happy blog birthday! How about something along the lines of "and she tries my shoes on when I'm out...."? Lola seems like she is definitely clever enough to be picking out the good stuff in your wardrobe and trying it on!

Oh, and I love love love hummingbird cake.

  22. ok my catchy line has been outdone. i keep checking back for updates but I thought I would try another one...

how is "Lola is Beauty: Where cat snagged fishnets are out and kitten heels are in"

or "Lola is Beauty: If I were a designer, she'd be my model."

    I'll keep checking!

  23. Ooh there's a lot of love in this room! Happy (belated) birthday :)

I just love general cake however I do have a penchant for carrot cake (WITHOUT dried fruit) - I think it's the icing that gets me.

I also want to try this: http://www.joyofbaking.com/RedVelvetCake.html
    ...simply because it's so purdy

    Ciao bella xx

    Lola is Beauty: Please Lurk.

Or: People and cats lurk here.

I find your blog very enjoyable. It is especially nice to have one about the UK with hints of Paris and Florence thrown in. Although you haven't written about APC for a while! Happy Birthday.

This post (and blog) is genius, really.
And i surely saw the tagline, it made me interested immediately and i think it's a great one.

I say: don't change it, never change the good things. (Only when you are SURE something better comes along..)

  34. Congrats on 3 years! Wish I'd been around for all 3, but hey, better late than never :)

Favorite cake: Vanilla Layer Cake filled with vanilla rum custard, slathered in Seven Minute Frosting and dusted in sweet, crunchy toasted coconut.

Tagline (again, better late than never): "Let me eat cake..." (a subtle juxtaposition of your relationship to both Paris and Fashion lol...)
