NEWS...

*The Evening Standard has suffered a horrific re-design, in particular the ES magazine, which I've been picking up every Friday for god knows how many years, now looks like a free small town gazette or some kind of brochure that sells yachting equipment. That title font: How could they? (They've also given Peaches Geldof her own advice column, but at least you can flick past that.)

*A.P.C. are apparently opening a London shop (again) near Dover Street Market. It's hard to understand their strategy with London - first there was the shop in Draycott Avenue on a Joseph owned site; that closed eons ago. Then the one in Ledbury Road; that closed too, maybe 7 years ago? And A.P.C. is now easier to get hold of than ever in London.

*I chose some glasses, which I pick up at the end of this week. I can't find a pic of them online and the Paul Smith bit of the Oliver Peoples' website is down. The whole *I thought I could see but I can't* thing has been quite unnerving and now I'm completely broke as well.

*The posts that weren't: Due to laziness I often don't post things I mean to. One of those things was how I've ended up dressed like Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate for the past six months, thanks to my Sessun desert booties and duffle jacket worn with peg trousers. Now someone else has gone and claimed Benjamin Braddock as their inspiration. This always happens.

p.s. I just bought these shoes to cheer myself up (about being broke! Now even broker, but not much). p.p.s. (I think I may have been Marais USA's first customer - I just realised they opened their web shop at 4am EST, which is 9am here and I bought the shoes at 9.04am!)

Sounds a great look. Can you buy Sessun anywhere in London, do you know?

I think you can buy it at Bread and Honey in Islington - they're listed as a stockist but I haven't been there to see. You can buy some of the collection online from the Sessun website www.sessun.com...

I'm going to London next week and am looking for the best selection of Marant (étoile), A.P.C and Repetto... where should I go?

Ooh Madelene I would go to Aime in Ledbury Road, Notting Hill definitely (French run shop with Frenchie labels) - also Liberty has lots of APC and Isabel Marant, not sure if they have Etoile stuff though. Best place for Repetto I'm not sure, though Liberty has them and Aime prob has a few styles. I will have a think, it will come to me!

p.s. if you don't find a good selection of Repetto anywhere like Aime or Selfridges/Liberty try a dance shop like Gamba in Garrick street, Covent Garden. There's also Porselli and Freed dance shops nearby but they might not have Repetto...

oh! looks like my advice on glasses came late? well, serves me right.
And talking of repetto, my three (yes three) latest pairs of shoes are all repetto.

nancy - I don't know why but I was thinking of these Chloe sunglasses I had on holiday over the new year of 2000 today - they were so cool but I had borrowed them and they were for a shoot so I had to give them back! I was thinking why didn't I just buy them at the end??

Re: glasses it was between "I'm an architect" and "I'm a librarian" and I went for the librarian ones!

Mia: I went for the most comfy ones and they are ALL expensive here - even Specsavers crappy ones are, so i thought might as well get some you like instead of two pairs you don't! In fact in my searching I came across a Venetian glasses brand - don't remember the name...

now I quite liked the standard re design in general but couldn't get an ES on Friday night (to be fair I was buying it at 1130pm so I think the newsagent had packed them up. this is not good news, i have loved that magazine as my Friday evening pre or post drinks tonic for years

Rose, it's bad. (Well really the cover font is the worst bit - inside I can cope with.) Brace yourself.
