Love this!
And thanks for the piece of advice "you can turn the music off in the top right corner".
I could not help but click "next" and read the other bit by Signe, and she says: "I guess having self confidence can get you far when it comes to chic-ness". Uhm, not sure about this. Does it mean that lady gaga or madonna are so self confident that they become automatically chic? No way. I know many ladies who are chic despite their shyness, insecurities and occasional awkwardness.

one more thing.. (after looking her up online since you peaked my interest here.) i actually had seen a man ray image of her and some of the other images but had never actually known anything about her.
now i definitely have to find a book about her.
it's the wearing live snakes thing and the bit where she goes through bins looking for feathers to decorate her clothes with (when she's lost her fortune).

thanks for this link!

If Jane - it's on the whole site - just thought I should point out where to turn it off, it kind of hits you...

Mia - good point!

ruth-anne - I think there's an Erte drawing of her with them, probably would come up on Google images. But even the description was enough to pull me in when I first read about her years ago...Oh and don't forget the wearing of a freshly slaughtered chicken as a neck stole - with a white dress I think. And naked menservants painted gold. she really makes someone like Isabella Blow look quite tame...
