I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW...

Who these people are that keep buying the things I'm obsessed with at Erie Basin?

Why no one (including the Internet*) can provide me with a definitive answer to what size a womens shoe size 5 (38) would be in mens/boys so I can buy some mens brogue Dealer boots?

massive ring lust. like I gasped in the office lust.

re shoe thing- is it not the same for gals and boys? I didn't know, I guess mens feet must be wider though so perhaps you drop a size?

Rose - gah, apparently a 5 is either a 5 and a half, or according to some a 6 would be a 5, but then someone said it would be a 4 but they don't do 4. See what I mean?

Basing myself on my pair of Converse (it's the only unisex pair I own, but it seems to be a generalized rule from what I've seen) a women's 38 would be a man's 36. Men's shoes are usually noted two sizes smaller than their equivalent for women. Hope this helps!

i second your comment about erie basin. i guess everyone pounces as soon as the tumblr photo goes up.

i've never had a manicure!

If Jane, Camille - thank you!

Erica - I wish I could spontaneously decide to buy myself something from there - never can. Manicures: I was never into them - then got strangely addicted and kind of now used to seeing my nails look good, instead of badly painted/worse on right hand when I do it myself...

I have massive ring envy. That cameo one is basically what I've been searching for for ages!

I think that one is actually still available - and there's another cameo on their site as well...go for it!

Charlotte - I've always wondered about the delights of Red Hook, it may be time to find out...x

Those boots? I want them. If you work out the sizing issue please give us a heads up. Manicures on little kids, I find it creepy. Can't handle the chemical smell that hits you the second you walk into a nails inc salon either.

Claire said...

e - I will! It was so creepy. Imagine how many brain cells those chemicals can zap in a four year old. (Not that their parents can have many in the first place.) One little girl who could barely talk yet was able to say "acrylic extensions"!

feeling very homesick, but thought i should let you know that reading your blog has made me feel a little better today!

Anna - I hope it's going well over there! xx

it's going ok...except I cycled into a hedge in full view of a bunch of rowdy male teenagers (all of whom seemed to be dressed like MC Hammer circa 1990) and I made a total idiot of myself at the first staff meeting (which went on for 7 hours) where we discussed how to help final year students formulate research questions...my suggestion was that if they didn't know how to do that on their own by the third year, they probably should have been weeded out and chucked already...not appreciated. I've been doing a lot of work and then generally moping about reading back issues of Lula and Lola, wearing huge granny knickers and eating chocolate. I'm being a bit of a loser to be quite honest, but I'm sure it will pick up. I don't know how i inadvertently became Bridget Jones...my least favourite person ever...real or imaginary. My cat even seems to be concerned about this state of affairs.

Anna - it sounds...challenging! Is the chocolate good at least? Bridget Jones also my least favourite person ever - someone once told me my life reminded them of her - shudder. I can see how the granny pants aren't helping!? x

you're so right about the knickers...they've got to go. Hope you have a lovely time on your travels.x
