Shall we get the alligator clutch or the calf leather bag in chestnut? Maybe ecru?

Via StyleRumor where there are loads more pictures, so you can better make your imaginary selection.

I would like to be friends with Sofia (in dreams). The picture where she is resting on her blue sofa is quite lovely.

Wanna rob a bank with me? Then we could buy the lot.

erica - I'd go for the bag in navy calf suede, I think that would do me just fine...

madelene - wouldn't we all. And we all know how I feel about SC's taste in sofas...

ephemerette - moving on from stealth wealth to plain steal wealth, I like it.

love the cobalt calf leather and the black alligator, and also the detail of the strap like that of a camera, with that extra bit where it rests on the shoulder (at least it looks like it from the catalogue picture)

I love the blue sofa...in fact, that sofa might cost less than the bag! I read recently that Corrine Day sold all her worldly goods before she died to pay for an operation on her brain tumour that she hoped would save her life. This has made me feel very sad and a little annoyed at the price of handbags these days...having said this, SC's designs are, naturellement, tres stylish.

Mia - I can see you with that one...x

Anna - that is so, so sad. I was thinking how far around the world you could travel on the same amount of money as one of those bags - I guess the point is you need to have enough that you can travel round the world with the bag and not notice a dent in your bank account. Or be gifted one by LV. It's quite a feat to design a bag everyone wants that's more expensive than a Birkin or a Chanel 2.55.

I guess as well the bag wouldn't seem half as special without the exotic travels! I couldn't believe how little was said of Day's passing...I can honestly say i really felt quite devastated (weirdly so actually). Her 'diary' exhibition was one of the most extraordinary things I have ever seen...beautiful, sickening, visceral and tragic all at once but above all so very very honest and brave. I really hope she will come to remembered as the true artist that she was. Did you know she did all the still photography for Coppola's Virgin Suicides?

Anna - I can't imagine myself on the tube with it really! You'd have to carry it in a dustbag and that would be truly ridiculous. Though I was impressed to see a woman with a Birkin who had a special Hermes table clip she hung it from in a restaurant.

I didn't see the diary exhibition, wish I had now obviously. I remember getting emails when some of her photos were being auctioned which must have been to try and raise money for an operation. I love that SC was inspired by her work for the look of Virgin Suicides and that she actually took the on set photos as well. I've got some scans of the photobook somewhere, will try and dig them out. How is the cycling/granny pant look coming along?

I'm rarely excited by designer bags, mainly because I am a student so they are way beyond reach but also the designs don't usually excite me much (yes even the Birkin, not that I would say no to one..). But these are seriously beautiful! I would consider saving up for one if they weren't SO expensive - but if I ever win the lottery of something I would choose the cobalt calf skin. And that sofa is lovely.

And I know, I can't believe it took me so long to watch Lost in Translation! Especially as I had already seen The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette - what was I thinking waiting so long?

Ally - the day I saw Heidi from The Hills carrying a Birkin was the day I knew I would never covet one.

Looks like we're all in favour of the cobalt calf leather then. I don't think LV do discounts for bulk orders, in fact I'm sure they actively discourage it!

I can report that I am now able to stay upright on a cycle and there is only the occasional wobble. As for the granny pants, I've discovered that they are the underwear of choice when it comes to cycling (least likely to cause a massive wedgie).
p.s i managed to get a ticket for 'Somewhere' at the LFF...I can't wait and it's the week that I am hoping to submit a research proposal on the lady herself...I'm wishfully thinking this is a sign of some sort!

Anna - excellent. And would love to know your thoughts on Somewhere. I loved it, but with all the drama of the premiere night my critical faculties were a bit frazzled and I think it'd be good to see again when it comes out. Oh, oh, tell me about the research proposal! And also where did you read about Corinne Day selling her belongings? I searched it, couldn't find anything. Do I have your email?
