KATE'S GREATEST HITS...

I didn't go to the Kate Moss for Topshop launch on Monday, forgive me. The Oxford Circus Topshop is already a vortex of pandemonium without adding Kate in person and her final collection for the brand into the mix. I was able to have a look at some photos of it beforehand though, and noted the re-issue of several pieces that had sent people into ebay bidding frenzies the first time round. Also, jewellery, also K.M. looking completely, insanely hot in the campaign images. The woman made me covet a paisley cape, how is that even possible. In reality very few people other than Kate could pull off the paisley cape, or the pleated stud hotpants, or some of the other items plundered from the more flamboyant/Keith Richards sections of Kate's vintage archive.

When I went along to have a look at the collection today, lodged in the back of my mind was the only thing I ever regretted not buying: the pansy print dress everyone was crazy about that has been re-issued. In typical me fashion, there being a full rail of them available to buy again suddenly made me lose interest. The last time I actively checked out the K.M. stuff was the first collection she did for Topshop, and though I'd heard there was more focus on using better fabrics in the later ones, I didn't really believe it until I went and saw for myself. There were some beautiful pieces, really well made and priced accordingly: a grey chiffon long sleeved dress, beaded to resemble leopard print, was satisfyingly heavy. I looked at lots of 1930s style long gowns (@£200) in viscose or chiffon and I was very tempted by the underwear. But then I couldn't get that iconic Corinne Day (RIP) picture of Kate in front of the fairy lights in her knickers out of my head.

In the end, I'm sure a lot of people will buy something just for the sake of it being the last chance to own a piece of Kate. It's an extensive, varied collection and in a way, it seems a shame to stop just as they've got the production spot on. But although this is the last full collection, I'm pretty sure this won't be the last we'll hear from Kate and Topshop.

I've always wanted to wear a cape. Perhaps this is my liberation/ empowerment? xo bb

If Jane - there's a stripey black and beige sweater that's very you.

BB - I can honestly see you in a cape (Austrian green) but it needs to be full length and you need to start smoking a pipe to go with it.
