FEW OF MANY...

I took so many photos in Italy. I'll slowly be adding more to my flickr here. I wish I had been able to record the smells too. In the garden of the Villa Bardini up above Florence (Costa San Giorgio 2 - near Forte Belvedere) it was a mixture of lemon, roses, herbs, wisteria and all the plants combined. I wish I could have bottled that scent. I suppose that's why it's called Florence, duh.

Ah if we could bottle the scent of every memory and desire then we would be in a wonderful world. A world in which not only a stray hint of lavender would fire my neurons to remember the perfect afternoon in a garden in Ferrara but a world in which I could dose these memories at will. Sounds scary. So I suppose we escape when we escape, and we suffer when we suffer. xoxo BB

feeling melancholy today BB? The best thing about that smell is that it only exists in Florence, so only reminds me of being there when I'm there. Also the smell of petrol from mopeds has the same effect, but that's another story...

erica - so strange how much our lives, or our travels at least are shaped by currency fluctuations. I miss the days of the lira too and so do the Italians...no one wins...
