PRINTS AND RUFFLES AND COLOUR...

Apparently some designers are as bored of the whole hard edged bodycon thing as I am. Look, no studs! No black! (OK, I have selectively neglected a lot of collections still proposing just that.) Does this mean that next summer I can be a purty lady and not an ironic '80s power vixen? OK, good!

MUCH better...I would like to know who thought it was a good idea to bring back 80s fashion in the first place...even if it was done ironically and knowingly!
yuck! have just purchased an APC Liberty print dress and thought of you and your Proustian moments in said store!
p.s any sign of lula yet?

p.s that was 'yuck' to 80s fashion, obviously...certainly not APC and your proustian moments!

I'd love to see more of this on the street, not that I don't love black but it would be nice to see something else.

i agree with anna...re the 80's. and i am getting a little bored with la lanphear (a little, just a little) BUT carine roitfeld wanting to go lighter and her new preppy look is scary!

re: a.p.c...i just want to be friends with jean or jessica...so they can "give me" samples...;))

Anna - ha! It did read a bit like that, but I knew what you meant. So nice that you think of me when buying apc at Liberty! I still haven't spied Lula but I haven't looked really since er, Friday? whenever it was...

Gold Sphere - I hadn't realised how bored I was with all the black until I saw these pics.

I think CR's new look is to do with (dare I say it) age - she thinks the hard edged black ages her. I'm sure she'll be back to it. Mind you, do we have more evidence than her telling Tommy Ton it was her new preppy look? Maybe it was just that one day and she was joking around??

Agree with you in principle, but basic (nyc) black -- a color combination that is so simple it is liberating, like a uniform but glam... and provides some automatic slimming!

I like prints, and I like ruffles. So all is well in the land of ss10.

My least favourite word? "Purty"!!!
(nice clothes, though)

Purty? What a strange little word. Found it in the dictionary, though.
Anyway, I'd much rather be a purty lady every day than an ironic power vixen. One question, why do you think some people want to look ironic? Isn't looking nice enough already?

BB - are you responding to If Jane re: Carine? I'm not against black at all, just that I've been force fed the notion that to look fashionable I must wear a skintight black micromini bandage dress and a cuff with spikes on for so long it's getting boring.

Mia - ie: pretty in old timer American cowboy or something? Oh god, no it seems nice is not enough. The thing is, though I was very young in the 80s, I do remember the 80s and all this Balmain and Alexander Wang power vixen shit is really only for people who weren't born when they made that Robert Palmer Addicted to Love video! Anyway, as with anything one can tire of the same thing if it's done over and over. I'm ready for ruffles.

Summer is my least favorite season, so this is actually quite depressing to think of. Still I must agree with you, the 80's can go to hell.

re: all black/spikes/and tight micro minis...
oh i agree...i am over the age of 23 so i think i would look silly wearing that...;))
i like more colours and patterns, but i do like the comfort of black...
my mum is 61 and she starts everything outfit with black and white and then one colour...
