STILL WINTER...

Put roses in every room, and next to your bed, where you can look at them all the time. Eat cake, not necessarily from a teeny plate with an enormous fork - also custard doughnuts. (Couldn't bring myself to post doughnut porn here.) Spend more time at your local historic ballroom, dancing with people you vaguely recognise from walking past them in the street or waiting for the train on the same platform.

all excellent plans- I would add watch old films you've seen a thousand times but still adore- preferably in black and white or grainy colour restored presentations.

Hmm, I think you've inspired me to buy some roses. Or flowers of any sort, really.

That rose is stunning! Is it from your garden? I'd love to know the variety.

Toni Marie - I bought them from Waitrose! The first time I ever let myself buy what they call the "luxury" roses, I don't know the variety but they lasted for ages and were so beautiful. Well worth £10 instead of £6!

Sage advice. Keep meaning to go to the Rivoli - which nights do you think are best? I've just had a Lisbon custard doughnut flashback -thanks!

Ephemerette: Hmm, tis tricky as the last time I looked at their website it didn't really tell you about all the different nights, for which you have to go to the promoters' sites.

http://jiveparty.wordpress.com/ 3rd Saturday of every month.

http://www.magic-theatre.co.uk/pages/home.php (amazing, but the website doesn't really prepare you for your eyes falling out when you walk into a room full of latex and ballgown clad trannies)

There's also a Salsa night sometimes - not sure when but Saturdays there is usually something on - during the week there's often filming/shoots so it's not open.

Thanks Claire x Jive sounds fun the last time I accidentally stumbled into a swing/jive night I got thrown around by a very sweaty dance teacher!

If I lived close to the Rivoli Ballroom, I'd be there every single weekend. You lucky girl!
